How does vendor onboarding work?+
Follow these steps to onboard as a vendor:
- Sign up on the LocalTag app/website with your mobile number.
- Select the "Become a Vendor" or "Create Shop" option.
- Fill in your shop/business details — name, category, location.
- Complete Aadhaar verification for KYC (scan or upload the QR code).
- Once submitted, verification is automatic — there's no admin approval wait. As soon as it's verified, your shop goes live and customers can discover it.

Why is Aadhaar verification (KYC) required?+
Aadhaar-based KYC confirms that a vendor is genuine and verified. Verified vendors get a trust badge, so customers can do business with more confidence.
Where is my Aadhaar QR code used?+
During the KYC step of shop creation, you upload a screenshot of the QR code found in your downloaded Aadhaar (PDF). The system scans this QR to verify your details. This QR and your details are used only for verification and are never displayed publicly.
How does a review become "Verified Customer"?+
When a customer visits your shop and scans the shop's QR code before leaving a review, that review gets tagged as "Verified Customer" — this keeps fake reviews out and shows everyone genuine feedback.
What is the Karma system and what are the levels?+
Karma is an internal trust score that reflects genuine, positive activity on LocalTag. It has no monetary value. Both users and vendors have their own karma score and levels.
For Users
- Upvoting a vendor (after a verified visit): +2 karma
- Downvoting a vendor: +1 karma
- Posting a verified review (after scanning the shop's QR code): +5 karma

For Vendors
A vendor's karma moves with the votes their shop receives — +2 karma per upvote and -4 karma per downvote (scaled by how established the voting account is, to prevent fake-account manipulation).

A higher karma level shows up as a trust badge on your profile/shop, helping you stand out to others on the platform.
What do I get with the Premium plan?+
With the Premium plan, you can list your business under multiple categories and get extra visibility features. To upgrade, message the "Vendor Onboarding" department from the Contact Us page.
